On November 5, 2009, I wrote my first blog. On November 1, 2010, I posted my 100th blog. On October 20, 2011, I posted my 200th blog. Today, October 11th, 2012, I’m posting number 300 … Wow!

Here are three things I’ve discovered about myself from writing during the past year.

  1. Writing gets easier. At the beginning, it was a chore. I had to force myself. I still force myself, but it’s now mostly fun. Writing gets easier.
  2. Short and sweet. The pattern of my writing the last year has trended toward shorter posts. A single topic. A single idea. Less attempting to explain details – more focus on principles. Short and sweet.
  3. It’s a journey. Just as Forrest Gump’s journey has become an important part of my message, my evolution as a blogger and speaker is a journey. Writing helps me flesh out my message. Writing helps me decide what is most important, both as a person and as a writer/speaker. I’ve been given the opportunity to figure it out for myself – while still being a work in progress.

Five more pieces of the life puzzle fall into place.

Five more pieces of the life puzzle fall into place.

In my previous post, I attempted to describe Cerebrate as the event it was. It described the who, what, where, when, and why. But Cerebrate really isn’t a logistical thing; rather, it’s an opportunity for personal self-discovery. My guess is everyone who participated learned something new about him or herself. The process of sharing, conversing, and focusing without the distractions of everyday living allows new personal discoveries.

Here are five things I learned either about myself or about my future self.

Last weekend I had the good fortune to attend Rajesh Setty’s 4th Cerebrate. The event is held twice annually. It was my first time attending, and I believe each event has been a little bit different and continues to evolve.

It has always been held at the Mount Madonna Center overlooking the Monterey Bay. In advance, we were only told to arrive on Friday night by 4:30 p.m. and that it would end early on Sunday afternoon. There was little advance details that we (the participants) were given as to how things will work. It’s that way by design. It’s a little mysterious.

But it was an awesome experience …
